You can request access to the server via the #minecraft channel in the Squishyish Discord by typing '/mcrequest' as long as you've been an active community member for more than 30 days.
Once your access is approved, a DM will be sent letting you know and to follow the guide above.
Where do I find my Minecraft Username?
It's important to note that your Xbox gamertag is not necessarily the same as your Minecraft username. The easiest way to find you username is in your Minecraft Launcher on the right side. See the screenshot below for the exact location.
When you submit a request to join the server, this is the name you need to use.
My game is very laggy. Is there a fix?
This newer version of Minecraft (1.21.5) coupled with some of the newer mods like Distant Horizons require significant more memory to run smoothly. Minecraft, by default, only allocated up to 2gb of memory. However, we can increase this amount. Follow the steps below to increase your allowed memory usage for Minecraft.
Login to your Minecraft Launcher and click the "Installations" tab at the top.
Hover over the fabric-load-1.21.5 installation you are usingĀ and click the 3 dots next to it and select "Edit" from the dropdown.
Click "MORE OPTIONS" at the bottom and in the field for "JVM ARGUMENTS", edit "-Xmx2G" to read something higher, depending on your system memory. Anywhere between 8G and 16G should be sufficient. (e.g. "-Xmx16G" without the quotes).
Do not alter the rest of the argument unless you know what you are doing. Do not set this amount to be as much as or more memory than you system has installed. If you are unsure how much RAM your PC has installed, check your System Settings in Windows.
Click the "Save" button and relaunch the game.
I'm an existing user, do I need to change anything?
Yes. You need to update your Minecraft and Fabric to 1.21.5. You may also need to update your Java as the minimum requirement for Minecraft 1.21.5 is Java 21, which has been increased over previous iterations.
You will also need to update your mods, which can be done using the modpacks provided above or manually. All of your existing mods will need to be removed or moved from the "mods" folder and the newer ones will need to be installed.
If installing mods manually, ensure that you are downloading only Fabric versions of the mod built for 1.21.5.
More information can be found in the Existing Player Guide. We encourage you take a look before attempting to join the server.
What are all these mods and why do I need them?
There are only 8 required mods and they are required for a smooth experience for players on the server. The server is technically not vanilla Minecraft, and is lightly modded. We usually refer to it as being a vanilla+ experience.
The mods in the Optional/Suggested Mods sections are technically not required. However, they are recommended for the intended experience. Feel free to choose the route that best suits your needs.
A description for the mods can be seen above. For more detailed descriptions, feel free to visit the Modrinth link by clicking on them. Some of the more technical mods are likely dependencies required for other mods to run properly.
My previous JourneyMap map data is gone. How can I get it back?
Your JourneyMap map data is cached in your Minecraft directory. The folder it is saved in is based on the name you give the server. If you have generated map data and decide to change the server name, navigate to your Minecraft directory (default directory is %APPDATA%\.minecraft) and find the folder that your previous map data is in (\journeymap\data\mp\servername) and copy it to the folder you are using currently.
Note:
It is recommended to start fresh as much of the JourneyMap data you currently have will no longer be accurate due to newer chunk generation.
For existing players: If you are jumping from 1.20.4 to 1.21.5 for the first time, you may need to follow the above regardless of whether or not you changed the server name as it may create a new folder with the jump in versions to the newer mod. More in-depth instructions can be found in the Existing Player Guide under the Known Issues section.
Check out the Common Questions & Issues section of the home page for common questions and issues, or if you just want to chill with other players in our server, make sure you join the #minecraft channel in the Squishyish Discord.
